Post No. HP1022 – Vulnerable People Relocation Project Support Worker
Newport City Council is looking to recruit a full time Project Support Worker to help the families we are currently supporting as part of the Vulnerable People Relocation project. The postholder will be based within the Policy, Partnership and Involvement Team at the Civic Centre, but working with families across the city and will support the Vulnerable People Relocation Project Coordinator in the successful delivery of the scheme.
The role will be responsible for in offering structured support to households who have been allocated to Newport City Council under this scheme and been placed in rented accommodation in Newport. The post holder will also act as a key – worker providing practical and emotional support, advice, information, translation and advocacy towards the goal of inclusion/integration in the community.
This would include liaising with a range of statutory and voluntary professionals and organisations to maximise resources for the client.
The successful candidate will be fluent in Arabic, experienced in working with disadvantaged, vulnerable people and/or refugees, able to demonstrate an understanding of the support and care planning process, experience in working through the housing, education and benefits processes. The ability to engage and challenge in difficult situations with positive outcomes and good people skills are also important to this role.
